Seed to Sheet™
Tracked from seed to sheet
Most brands hand you a finished product and ask you to trust the label. We think you deserve more than that.
No regulation requires us to show you our supply chain. But we track and control every step of production: from the organic cotton field to your finished product. We believe what touches your skin every night matters.
Below is the complete journey: what goes in, what we control, and what we verify at each step.
The Journey at a Glance
Four stages, fully traceable — from the organic cotton field to independent certification. Select any stage to jump to the full detail.
Our cotton is sourced from certified organic agricultural fields in the Aydın region of Turkey — specifically the Söke valley. Harvested mechanically with zero synthetic pesticides, chemical defoliants, or GMO seeds. The fiber arrives clean before any processing begins.
We use exclusively virgin organic fiber — 100% newly harvested, non-recycled cotton, confirmed free from pesticide residues per independent testing and verified non-GMO.

The plant extracts that give AIZOME textiles their color and biological properties — indigo, madder (Rubia), and gallnut — are sourced from a certified botanical laboratory in India. These are not synthetic dyes. They are pure botanical extractions, processed using clean biochemical methods.
All plant extracts are certified by independent certification body Control Union to both GOTS v.7 and ZDHC MRSL Level 3 standards. ZDHC Level 3 is the highest tier of chemical input verification in the textile industry. Every dye batch is documented before use.

Plant-dyed fibers are combed, twisted into yarn, and woven into fabric at a GOTS scope certified facility. The dyeing of raw fiber using our patented ultrasonic cavitation process happens here — soundwaves create microscopic implosions that drive plant molecules physically inside the cotton cell walls. No synthetic fixatives, no petrochemical carriers.
No synthetic lubricants, chemical sizing agents, or optical brighteners are introduced at this stage. Every processing partner is legally bound to our Master Restricted Substances Policy by contract. Compliance is documented through signed agreements and batch-level process records.
Final construction uses 100% pure cotton sewing thread — untreated, unbleached, and free from chemical post-treatments. Where softening is required, only GOTS-approved or independently assessed finishing agents are applied in low residual amounts. No formaldehyde sprays, no petrochemical treatments.
Fitted sheets contain a natural rubber latex elastic core for mattress grip. The latex is fully encased in organic cotton fabric with zero direct skin contact.
The finished product is verified by independent third-party laboratories and certification bodies with no commercial relationship to AIZOME. This is the final check — the product either passes or it doesn’t.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 — Class I
TESTEX, Zurich
The world’s most stringent finished textile safety certification, tested for over 100 harmful substances. Class I means certified safe for direct newborn skin contact — the highest product class. Certificate BJ025 123217, valid until November 2026.
PFAS Test — Not Detected
TÜV SÜD, Germany
Independent screening for PFAS tested across all five bedding colorways by the full EN 17681-1 panel: every PFAS compound Not Detected, in every fabric. Overall result: PASS, within EU POP and REACH legal limits.
GOTS Chain of Custody
Control Union, Netherlands
Confirms that certified organic fiber has been tracked and controlled from field to finished product without contamination or substitution.
Chemical Analysis
QTEC, Japan
Independent laboratory verification of formaldehyde content: 0.00 detected. Toxic aromatic amines: Not Detected. Meets the world’s strictest standard for newborn clothing.
HRIPT Clinical Test
Canada
Dermatologist-supervised Human Repeat Insult Patch Test on human subjects confirmed zero signs of skin irritation or allergic reaction. Report ref: 19BC-0909-14.
Antimicrobial Performance
QTEC, Japan et al.
Verified by independent laboratories using JIS L 1902:2015 and GB/T 20944.2-2007 methods. Results measured after washing. Performance derives from plant-based dye chemistry, not chemical antimicrobial treatments.
What We Leave Out
Our protocol prohibits the intentional use of the following chemical classes across our entire manufacturing network, enforced through legally binding agreements with every production partner. When in doubt, we leave it out.
| Chemical class | AIZOME standard | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Synthetic dyes & petrochemical pigments | 0% intentionally added — Not Detected (OEKO-TEX) | Primary source of skin-reactive residues in conventional textiles |
| PFAS & fluorinated compounds | 0% intentionally added — Not Detected (TÜV) | “Forever chemicals” linked to systemic health disruption |
| Formaldehyde & wrinkle-release resins | 0% intentionally added — 0.00 detected (QTEC) | Common cause of contact dermatitis |
| Optical brighteners & bleaching agents | 0% intentionally added | Frequent trigger for skin sensitivity; our cotton stays unbleached |
| Fragrances & masking agents | 0% intentionally added — Not Detected (OEKO-TEX) | Known irritants for sensitive skin and reactive respiratory tracts |
| Phthalates & endocrine disruptors | 0% intentionally added | Industrial plasticizers including DEHP, DBP, and BPA |
| Heavy metals & organotin compounds | 0% intentionally added | Lead, cadmium, mercury, and toxic stabilizer residues |
| Synthetic antimicrobial finishes | 0% intentionally added — performance from plant extracts | Triclosan and chemical biocides excluded by design |
“Intentionally added” refers to manufacturing inputs under our control. As with all certified organic plant-based materials, trace environmental elements may be present at levels consistent with certified organic agricultural standards.
What Is Still Used
We openly document every non-botanical component so individuals with acute sensitivities can make fully informed decisions.
miDori® BioDry
Fabric softening finish
A 100% bio-based agent derived from microalgae and plant seed oils. Applied in low residual amounts for textile pliability. Approved under GOTS and OEKO-TEX standards. No synthetic silicones or petrochemical agents.
Siligen® EH1
Textile softening finish
A GOTS-approved silicone-based softening agent used in low residual amounts to improve fabric pliability and hand feel. Independently assessed against OEKO-TEX®, bluesign®, and ZDHC standards. Applied only where necessary to enhance comfort and durability.
100% Pure Cotton Sewing Thread
Construction
Untreated, unbleached, and free from chemical post-treatments, optical brighteners, or synthetic lubricants.
Natural Rubber Latex Elastic
Fitted sheets only
Used strictly for mattress grip. Fully encased in organic cotton fabric. Zero direct skin contact.
Your Batch Number
Every AIZOME product carries a Manufacturing Date and unique Batch Number on the Textile Health Facts label. That code maps directly back to the organic cotton origin, the dyeing processing logs, and the final construction records — so any product can be traced to its exact production history at any time.
In food and pharmaceuticals, batch traceability is a legal requirement. In textiles, it isn’t. We do it anyway.
Manufacturing discipline is registered with the FDA under Establishment No. 3017235663, reflecting batch-level traceability and controls aligned with FDA Class I medical device production practices. This is not a product approval.
Want to verify this independently?
We believe transparency should be verifiable, not just claimed. Accredited journalists, recognized advocacy organizations, and vetted content creators are welcome to request access to our full third-party certification dossier for independent review.
