Production
Production of Aizome
From beginning to end, we focus on selecting organic materials and traditional means of production for a natural, stress-free end product. We harness Japanese traditional dyeing techniques and capture the essence of an ancient craft for the benefit of a modern lifestyle. We do this in a simple yet sophisticated way that involves no syntheic chemiclas. We are wokring together with an expert dyers in Japan and China. Both are equally and rigorously controlled quality-wise. You can learn more about our quality control here.
Indigo
We only use natural indigo from carefully selected plantations. Indigo leaves are also used to make skin cremes and traditional medicine.
Cotton
We only source organically certified highest quality cotton with extra long stables from responsibly managed plantations. Our raw materials are GOTS certified, which means from organic sources.
Water
The wastewater from textile plants is classified as the most polluting of all the industrial sectors. The traditional aizome dyeing process requires no washing out (estimates are that we use 200 times less water). After dyeing, the waste is used as fertilizer on local fields.
